Migrating

Moving on without losing the history.

You have years of recipes, a supplier list and a shelf of numbers. Here is exactly what comes across, what does not, and what we do about the difference.

What imports

Bring it in from CSV.

The things you have most of, and would least like to retype.

Recipes

Your recipe book comes across as CSV, with ingredient bills attached and batch sizes set on arrival.

Brew worksheets

Existing brew sheets import against batches, so past brews keep their measurements instead of becoming a filing cabinet.

Purchase orders

Bulk-import open and historical POs rather than raising each one again by hand.

Ingredients

Your materials map onto a shared master catalog, so lots are described consistently from the first receipt onward.

What does not

Some things are worth counting once.

We would rather tell you this now than halfway through a migration.

Opening stock

Raw materials and finished goods start from a count you take on the day. Every number after that is calculated, but the first one is yours.

Beer already in tank

Work in progress is entered as it stands — vessel, volume, and where it is in the process — so the cellar view is true from day one.

Account history

Customers and pricing come across. Years of past invoices generally stay in the system that raised them, and your accountant keeps that record.

And back out again

Nothing is held hostage.

Everything in ClearBeer leaves as CSV whenever you want it. The reason to stay should be that it works, not that leaving is expensive.
